Appointments
All patients are seen by booked appointment only. The clinic hours are Monday to Friday 0830 to 1630 but Dr Bell's other commitments mean that appointments are not available for all those hours. Our helpful secretaries will try to accommodate you where possible.
If it is your first visit with us, or a visit for a new problem, please arrive 10-15 minutes early for your appointment for registration and to fill in a health questionnaire. When you come for a first appointment please remember to obtain and bring the following:
-
Referral from your GP.
-
Without a referral Medicare and funds will not rebate you.
-
Medicare card
-
Have your Private Health Insurance information with you
-
Reports, X-Rays, MRI's, CT scans etc and any other relevant information
If you need to cancel an appointment, please telephone the office (9894-0040) during business hours and allow at least 1 day's notice so that we can offer your appointment time to other patients.
We recognise that your time is valuable, and we make every effort to run on time. Occasionally emergencies occur or patients before you require a little more time, and these cause scheduling delays beyond our control. We apologise if we keep you waiting.
Consultations & Diagnostic process
If you have a medical issue, Dr Bell wil take a history from you to try and narrow down the possible causes and then perform an appropriate examination.
If you are young, then please bring your mother or other appropriate chaperone. Please bring a chaperone even if not "young" and you would prefer to have someone present or nearby during the consultation and/or examination.
After history & examination, further information from blood tests, ultrasounds, X-Rays, CT, or MRI may be required to assist in the correct diagnosis and treatment. Sometimes surgical investigation may be required (eg. Laparoscopy).
Dr Bell does not believe in ordering unnecessary investigations, nor does he believe in writing prescriptions unless they are likely to help you.
There are of course thousands of medical conditions, blood tests, imaging procedures, and therapies. Dr Bells efforts will be directed to getting you the right diagnosis and treatment in the most straight forward manner.
Surgery
All gynaecological surgery is performed at Norwest Private hospital. If I charge you an out of pocket expense it will be modest. The anaesthetist will usually charge an out of pocket expense, and we will put you in contact with him should you wish.
Common sense should always rule. If there appears to be a life threatening process occurring, the best people to call are the ambulance service. Dial 000
